Please meet Dolly! She has been a resident at the shelter since May of 2023. We met Dolly when the WOAWL and ACOs scheduled her for her wellness exam, vaccinations, heartworm and fecal testing prior to us spaying her. Dolly was adopted at one point, but was returned to the shelter and it seems she was a bit too strong for her older adopter. 

We thought Dolly needed a break from shelter life and we thought she could use a little break. Here at Prospect Ridge we've been enjoying getting to know her personality. Dolly is an approximately 2-3 years old Pit Bull Terrier Mix, always happy and is ready to be your go-to companion! She would do great not only with someone who has a backyard, but the real perk would be that her adopter would enjoy daily walks with her. Do you like hiking? Dolly loves the outdoors and would likely make a great hiking companion.

This beauty is highly food-motivated, which works well in her training. Someone certainly started training Dolly in her prior life, as once she sees a treat, she tries to pull out all the stops. It's just that she does it all at once. Sit instantly becomes a down stay for Dolly. She tries so hard to please, as is typical of this breed. We believe some one on one training would help her tap in, and she is eager to learn! We work on commands daily. She does enjoy bringing back toys you throw to her, and we are working on the "Drop it" command. She eagerly trades a toy for another toy or a treat, and it is going very well!

She does want to play with some dogs, and if someone interested had a dog, we suggest proper meet ups, as Dolly likes to play hard. She is a strong girl, so we think if you're a family with kids, older kids would work best. We can see her accidentally knocking down a small child as in typical pitty fashion - "they will worry about stopping when they get to you!" We are unsure how she is with cats.
